June 3
•Attention: All Girls who are not currently in Girls Athletics and would like to be next year. There is a mandatory meeting after school on Thursday, May 27th at 3:40 pm in the new gym. This meeting should take approximately 20 minutes, so be there on time! Anyone who does not attend this meeting will not be considered for athletics next year.
•The Wharton Coaching Staff is holding summer workouts for all athletes in the Wharton athletic program. These workouts are designed to improve all areas of athletic performance, reduce risk of injury, and improve endurance. These workouts are not specific to any sport. We will concentrate on overall athletic performance designed to improve athletes in all sports. Each workout session will last two hours. One hour will be dedicated to weight training and the other hour will consist of speed and agility work emphasizing quickness and endurance. These skills will improve athletic performance in all sports.

Please emphasize to your son/daughter the importance of being physically fit and prepared to meet the demands of athletic practices in the heat of August. Each athlete will need to provide their own workout clothes (shorts, shoes, and shirt). They may also bring a water bottle or Gatorade bottle to the workouts with them.

The workouts will be directed and supervised by one of the members of the Wharton athletic coaching staff. This service is provided free of charge to all athletes planning on attending Wharton ISD in the 2010-2011 School Year. Athletes entering grades 7-12 are encouraged to attend.
