Reading intervention classes are using the I-Station Reading Program. It is an internet-based reading intervention for grades 2-5 at our school. I-Station is made of four easy-to-use components that work together to help students achieve success in reading.
1. Assessments Identify Areas in Need of Improvement
Students’ skills are assessed and monitored throughout the year using I-Station’s Indicators of Progress, a fast, online assessment. It determines weaknesses in the critical areas of reading.
2. Individual Instruction is Delivered in a Fun, Animated Format
Bases on assessment results, students then receive instruction based on their individual needs through I-Station’s online interactive curriculum. Students receive instruction and practice in all of the critical reading areas. The animated format motivates students to learn.
3. Student Improvement is Monitored Closely
Student performance reports are automatically created and shared with teachers and administrators. These reports help provide lessons for small group instruction.
4. Teacher Resources Provide Additional Support
I-Station includes an extensive library of Teacher Resources for additional reading support. These resources include teacher-directed lessons, decodable books, read aloud books, as well as poetry, rhymes, word banks, and educational games.

I-Station is a fun and engaging way for students to achieve success in reading! Please feel free to let us know if you would like to discuss your child’s progress in reading and if you are interested in knowing ways to help them at home.

Teresa Brown
I teach Resource Reading and Math for the 4th and 5th Grades. The students come to me during their normal Reading or Math time, and we work in small groups. We follow CSCOPE just like everyone else, supplementing with other materials when needed. The students have goals that they work on during the school year, and we try to master those goals. This year I also have time to go into classrooms and assist students when they need help.
Mrs. Billings/Mrs. Cline (Math Intervention)
Ann Billings and Kathleen Cline are the Response to Intervention math teachers for grades 2, 3, 4, and 5. Students use an intensive math intervention system called Voyager, that provides targeted instruction and practice of the grade level goals identified by the TEKS (Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills.) It is based on scientific research that has proved effective instructional practices for struggling students. Students are being successful and are having fun using the Voyager program.
Eileen Cruz (Structured Learning Classroom)
This classroom is designed to provide the structure required by students with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Some of the methods used to address academic, social, language, and self-help skills include: Applied Behavior Analysis(ABA), TEACCH, PECS and Makaton. The C-Scope curriculum utilized by WISD is also accommodated to each child's grade level and unique needs. Multi-sensory instruction and various modalities of presentation are an integral part of the program.
Bridget Savage
My name is Bridgett Savage, and I am an inclusion teacher and the Special Services Department Head. Inclusive education means that all students in a school, regardless of their strengths or weaknesses in any area, become part of the school community. All students have a right to experience a feeling of belonging among other students, teachers and support staff. This is achieved through inclusion. My job is to assist with the inclusion process and ensure success for all students.
Jovita DeLaRosa
I teach Resource Reading and Math for 2nd and 3rd grades and Resource Reading for 5th grade. We meet daily to work on Reading and Math objectives that meet the needs of each student. We follow the C-Scope curriculum and parallel the concepts that are being taught in the classrooms. I am also able to go into the students' classrooms to help them in other subject areas.
