1. Demonstrate an understanding of basic computer operations and concepts by:
• Using age appropriate computer technology (computer parts, desktop functions, etc.)
• Using basic computer operations and skills (start-up, login, shutdown, launch and quit applications, use of mouse and keyboard)
• Using menus and/or toolbars as needed
• Using peripheral devices (printers and headphones)
• Naming, saving, and printing documents to designated locations
• Exhibiting an awareness of basic keyboarding techniques (posture and the proper position of the hands on the keyboard)
2. Demonstrate an understanding of social, ethical, and human issues by:
• Exhibiting responsible treatment of equipment/applications
• Exhibiting positive social behavior while using technology
• Exhibiting behavior consistent with the WISD Acceptable Use Policy
• Using appropriate language and behavior when communicating with others

3. Demonstrate use of productivity tools:
• Using computer programs as directed by the teacher
• Creating, saving, and printing a variety of simple documents
• Creating, saving, and sharing a presentation or publication
4. Demonstrate use of technology communication tools by:
• Communicating an awareness of telecommunication tools (Internet, email)
• Sharing thoughts, ideas, and stories using technology
• Creating and sharing one or more curriculum-related presentations or publications
• Showing or explaining completed work (with assistance). Examples of published pieces might be a slide show with voice, printed documents/drawings for class book or bulletin board and/or posted work in the Internet.
5. Demonstrate use of technology research tools by:
• Accessing the Internet and use teacher-reviewed bookmarks and/or links
• Using a database, such as a library catalog, to access and retrieve information
• Using keyword searches for accessing information
6. Demonstrate use of technology problem solving and decision-making tools by:
• Communicating an awareness that technology can be used to provide resources for problem-solving and decision-making
• Using applications/electronic resources to solve a problem, make a decision, or construct new knowledge
